Are You Sacrificing for Beauty?
I heard a report earlier this week that salons, all types, are reporting that sales are down. The report mainly said that women are going longer in between hair cuts and colorings. Facials are not in as much demand as they have been. And instead of going in for a mani/pedi, many women are opting for just one service, and they are definitely not opting for any special treatments.
This makes me wonder. With prices of gas so high and thus the cost of just about everything else going up, are you giving up on some of your beauty indulgences? Or are you sacrificing something else for your beauty treatments?
I am priviliged to have an array of beauty products in my arsenal and I am pretty good at home hair cuts and coloring. Facials, those I test at-home usually, unless I am treated to one when traveling. I have not given up my manicure/pedicure appointments, but admittedly, I am thinking of changing salons as mine just went up on their prices.
I would love to hear your thoughts on this!

Yes, I have cut back on beauty spending. I am using more drugstore brands; shopping more at ULTA instead of Sephora because they have coupons and a clearance rack; cut back to one pedicure a month and polishing myself in between appointments; have gone to a darker hair color so I can space appointments to 8 weeks; and making more informed choices instead of frivolous purchases. The economy is uncertain and I am packing money into my savings account as fast as I can.
