Are You Wearing the Right Size Bra?
A trip to the bra store over the weekend taught me a valuable lesson. I have been wearing the wrong size bra! OMG! How could this be? Are you wearing the right size bra.
After having a “professional bra fitting” I learned that my cup size is bigger than I though, and my band size is smaller than I thought. Hmm… It totally makes sense as I feel like I am sometimes falling out over or under my cups, and my straps were constantly falling down.
If you don’t have the time to get professionally measured, or if you swear by ordering your bras online (which I usually do!), all you need is a tape measure (one used for sewing, not the kind you use around the house!) and these instructions:
To find your correct band size: Take the tape measure and place it under your arms, higher on your back so that is rests across the top of your chest. If the number is even then this is your band size. If the number is an odd number, add 1″ to it, and that will be your band size.
To find your correct cup size: Take you tape measure and place it loosely around the fullest part of your bosom. Next, take your band measurement, and subtract that from your bust measurement. Every inch in between is representative of a cup size. So, if your band measurement is 36″ and your bust measurement is 38″, the difference between these measurements is two inches and that would mean that you wear a B-cup.
1 inch difference: A-cup
2 inch difference: B-cup
3 inch difference: C-cup
4 inch difference: D-cup
and so on!Now that I have found my correct size, I was able to select 4 bras, and they all fit! And my clothes look like they fit so much better.
