Birthdays Happen
When I turned thirty, I was sure that it was going to be down hill from there. All of my best years were suddenly behind me. It took a couple of months, but luckily for me, as the days passed, I noticed that nothing had really changed at all. Instead of dwelling on all of those years that were behind me, I started to focus on the years still ahead. It would have been such a waste of time to “stop living” because I was getting old in my own head.
That was twenty years ago! (Good heavens! ) Anyway, birthdays don’t mean that much to me anymore. Well I take that back. I still want presents and dinner out, but the age doesn’t seem to be all that important. Most of the time I actually have to calculate just how old I’m going to be on my next birthday! So once again I have learned that aging is all in your head.
And I will leave you with something to think about today…

I have! 36 was awful for me, and I know it was because I remember learning in school, as a child, that the life span of a human was 72 years old (that was quite a few years ago). As I learned the meaning of middle aged, probably in that same class in school, I decided in my head that “middle aged” was 36, or half of 72. Isn’t that funny how that stuff sticks with you? I had to have probably been 10 or 11 when I heard all of that “stuff.”

I never heard that thank goodness… That would mean that I’m pretty much past middle age by now! I was just reading that we could live to be 120 years old! Looks like I have a lot of shopping years still to come! ;)

Yea, I have but it’s not as bad as I first thought it was because the reason for it being bad really wasn’t about “growing old”, it was somewhere in the lines of heartbreak or something. But it still is the worst birthday so far. I’m sure glad that year’s over. Hahaha. =)
