Boots No. 7 Protect & Perfect Beauty Serum.
The search for the fountain of youth continues…
I have been seeing this on my local news all day. Supposedly women are calling and e-mailing local television stations to find out where to get the Number Seven Cream. Well, the cream is actually a serum, from Best Selling UK Beauty Brand Boots. Boots recently launched in the United States, and the PR people have certainly done a great job of getting this “anti-aging miracle serum” out there. From what I hear locally, it is selling out at Target.
So is this just great marketing? Public Relations? Or does this serum really work? You know I will definitely put it to the test as soon as I can get my hands on it.
First off, this serum carries a different name here in the United States. It is the Restore & Renew Beauty Serum. Here is the description from the Boots website.
“Reveal younger looking, beautifully refined skin with this powerful blend of caring and skin restoring ingredients. Light and non-greasy, it glides on instantly softening and smoothing your skin. Then, with regular use, it works to renew your complexion, restoring radiance and helping to reduce the appearance of pores, fine lines and wrinkles in just 4 weeks. With concentrated levels of our unique antioxidant complex and skin-firming pro-retinol complex to boost and maintain skin’s elasticity.
Created with Care. We’ve created this hypo-allergenic product using only ingredients we know and trust. It has been tried and tested by guests with even the most sensitive skin, so you’ll know it will be good to yours. Dermatologically tested.”
From the frenzy of it all, if you want to try this beauty out, you better run - not walk to your nearest CVS or Target, as that is the only place you will find it here in the US. You will find it for $21.99.

I cracked up when I saw the ingredients!
Cyclopentasiloxane, Aqua (Water, Eau), Butylene glycol, Dimethicone crosspolymer, Cyclohexasiloxane, Glycerin, Dimethicone copolyol, Sodium ascorbyl phosphate, Polysorbate 20, Magnesium sulfate, Phenoxyethanol, Sodium PCA, Retinyl palmitate, Methylparaben
Between the several layers of Dimethicone, and Glyderin you have the effective creation of a barrier. How is the Retinyl palmitate, which carries the substance that is concentrated into Retin A, ever supposed to reach your skin? By the time it DOES reach it, it’s most desirable component is probably neutralized by the acidic environment of the skin, but I could be wrong.
In any case, try buying a little glycerin and Dimethicone, use if faithfully, and see what your results are. They might just be the same as paying more for this lovely product…LOL..

In the US, this is sold under the name of Restore & Renew Beauty Serum from Boots at both Target and CVS. It has just been selling out.
To be sure, I have confirmed with the company that distribution has begun in the United States, the name is Restore & Renew Beauty Serum, and it is officially available at Target and CVS, throughout multiple locations, nationwide.

I just bought the last $19.99 bottle at my local Target in Oxnard, CA. I’ll let you know in a month, around July 15th-or sooner, if I see results.

You lucky girl, Janice. Please do keep us informed on how it worked for you.
Jill - I am probably one of the few eBay skeptics left, but if the creams are selling, then it must be working.

Thank you Sagemother for listing the ingredients.
Read them. She’s right…and notice retinyl palmitate is next to the last ingredient, which means it is the next to last ingredient added…like very little and that is the only ingredient in this product that has any effect on skin repair. The other ingredients are just something to soften the skin thus plumping it some and making it look as though wrinkles have disapeared. If you really want to repair and maintain your skin ask your doctor for a rx for Retin-A. That’s the real thing!

I am a firm believer in that some things work differently for different people. I am glad to hear that Retin-A is working well for you. It did damage to my skin, and I only used it for a few weeks in one spot on my forehead. I was disappointed to say the least. But it does work wonders on some people, like my Mom, for instance.

Retin A .01% is the strongest RX for the skin. You have to start out at a low % like .25%..use it about 3 times a week and work your way up to the highest %. As soon as you notice any reddening stop using it..resume when red goes away. Eventually you can use it every night in the strongest form with no problems. Anything below the .01% can be obtained as Retinol without a perscription……only Retin A RX comes in the strongest form . I use it nightly (again, after ‘working my way up)…I’m 58…been using it for 10 years and have very few wrinkles and good skin….and when I starting using it my skin was not good at all.

I’m wondering if any of the ingrediants in Boots No. 7 Protect & Perfect Beauty Serum could be considered a steroid? Based on the answer from SageMother, (you seem to know what you are talking about!) I am wondering what’s in this little bottle besides Retinyl which is obviously good for your skin. I am 30 years old and for about 15 years now I’ve suffered from only mild acne, nothing of which has been a concern up until now. I have developed a rash on my chin and nose area, from what I’ve learnt from research (although haven’t visited my doctor yet) could be perioral dermatitis and coincidentally started about the time I started using this Boot’s serum. Says that this could condition could be brought on by topical steroid creams. Any thoughts??

There isn’t a steroid in Boots, but the number of lubricants might be working against you there.
A condition that could be brought on by topical steroids could be brought on by other factors as well, like the development of a sensitivity to nickel.

When I first heard about this product I did some research by calling the corporate offices of CVS and Target to see why these stores were not selling the same product name. The FDA in this country has not done any testing on Protect & Perfect so it is not allowed to be sold here. The formula was changed from the one sold in the UK which would need FDA approval to one that does not need to be approved and sold as Restore & Renew here. CVS and Target always sold the Boots brand.

Found 3 tubes of “Restore and Renew” @CVS in L.A.(almost ALL the CVS stores were out!!) and asked my brother to get it in the UK..sure enough he came back with “Protect&Perfect”… I thought it was a different product…but now I see they are the same except for a few ingredients… Have been using Restore& Renew for 3 days and nights and some other Boots’ products…and already see and feel a difference in my skin…. so far…i think it works!!!!!! Will then try the “Protect and Perfect” to see if there is any difference.
