Aging Fabulous

Exercise Your Brain with Games on Happy Neuron.

by Teri on April 8th, 2008

Do you like puzzles and mind games? I do. I am addicted to word searches and other games that get my mind thinking. But  guess I need to “exercise” other parts of my noggin too.

Seriously, taking care of our brains is another great way to stay young and healthy and it is one thing that is often overlooked. I tend to worry about health and beauty issues while trying to Age Fabulous, so I am glad that this has been recently pointed out to me. It is it important to stimulate more than just one area of the brain. While similar brain games exist (including crossword puzzles and brain teasers) they stimulate only certain areas of the brain. Enter Happy Neuron.

Happy Neuron games were developed by a cognitive psychologist to target the five main cognitive functions: Memory, Attention, Language, Visual/Spatial and Executive Functions. While there is currently no cure for Alzheimer’s, increasing scientific evidence shows that actively participating in appropriately designed brain fitness workouts can defer the onset of this disease and other signs of aging on the brain.

To gauge your progress and identify areas of cognitive weakness, Happy Neuron uniquely provides players with a personal, virtual coach that compares your results to others of a similar age, gender and education and then designs customized workouts based on performance.

Check it out and let me know what games you become “addicted” to.
