Open Mouth: Insert Foot!

by Teri on August 26th, 2007

I did it again - put my foot in my mouth and hurt Mom’s feelings. I feel so terrible!

Sorry, Mom!

I wish I could have told you in a more gentle way. I really never would have thought you read this blog - especially on the day I posted this. Honestly, I didn’t know you read my blog at all - I am flattered that you do, though. I truly apologize for making you an example.

Please forgive me.

Look in your bathroom for some new scented goodness, courtesy of me and Philosophy. I hope you’ll love it, as I am sure it will smell amazing on you.

 Love, Teri

Anyway - seems Mom doesn’t spritz perfume on herself after bathing, scrubbing, and lotioning up with the same scent. She said that she really only uses that as a “refresher”. But I told her, that maybe we need to use only one or two of my scent layering techniques, and find her a scent that suits her more.

My choice for her, is Philosophy’s Amazing Grace. I just so happen to have a set calling her name. While I have used the perfume spray in the set, I am giving her the shower gel and body lotion, and hopefully she will feel it is enough of scent layering.

I have to run now, and sneak out the awful smelling scent she has now, and replace it with my one of my favorite (and hopefully hers now) Philosophy scents.

I know my mom - and aunt - read my blog, so I do have to watch what I say. I’d like to think that I’d write the same way even if they weren’t reading, but it is still a good reminder. I’m sure I’ll end up posting a foot-in-mouth article before too long. It’s bound to happen. As a writer, I do think it is important to draw from one’s own experiences and that eventually leads to experiences with those close to us.

Interestingly, my mom and your mom seem to have a few things in common. Fortunately, she doesn’t wear much in the way of fragrances (she knows that’s a bad idea since she can’t smell). It can be an issue, though, when it comes to food. I’ve read that that can be a serious issue with people who can’t smell, especially those from the ‘don’t throw it out until it absolutely is beyond hope’ generation.
